As a cybersecurity technician, I implemented, evaluated, and/or disseminated Forest Service IT security components, tools, and procedures for the CIO. This included the procurement and deployment of an enterprise Splunk solution for agency-wide cybersecurity. I used technical expertise and deep experience in delivering programs at scale to drive community engagement around development or enterprise-level data analytics systems. I provided leadership in managing horizontal technology used for application management, security, and compliance, as well as business and web analytics, and operated as a technical expert in the Information Security area, providing guidance and support for the protection of information technology systems (e.g., personal computers, Local Area Networks, etc.). During my tenure as Network Operations Supervisor, I provided strategic and operational leadership to a team of approximately 25+ Government and contractors technical professionals, managing a large and complex network infrastructure that included ROIP, VOIP, and other advanced communication systems. My role extended beyond daily operations to encompass the full network lifecycle, from initial design and implementation to ongoing sustainability and system upgrades. I was responsible for the effective management of the network operations team, with a focus on fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment through coaching, mentoring, and professional development initiatives. A key aspect of my role was to serve as a liaison between technical teams, senior management, and clients, ensuring clear communication and alignment of network solutions with business objectives. I consistently drove improvements in network efficiency, implemented streamlined processes, and ensured that service level agreements were met, demonstrating my ability to lead technical teams and deliver results in a demanding environment.

As an IT Specialist within the Transportation Security Administration (TSA)’s Office of Acquisition (ACQ), I played a key role in enhancing security infrastructure at airports nationwide. A significant aspect of this role involved the procurement, configuration, and nationwide deployment of Checkpoint security equipment. This required close collaboration with program management offices and a deep understanding of complex security information technology system architecture. My responsibilities extended to providing technical advice and guidance on front-line security systems, ensuring alignment with both DHS and TSA enterprise solutions. I conducted rigorous reviews of acquisition support products, including Mission Need Statements and Functional Requirements Documents, to guarantee technical accuracy and timely implementation. Furthermore, I presented technical issues to diverse audiences and provided DHS information technology expertise to various teams. During my time as a Technical SME at the National Guard Bureau (NGB-J6/CIO), I functioned as a principal technical expert, offering guidance and consultation to senior leadership on integrating diverse information technology programs and functions. My responsibilities encompassed a wide range of activities, from analyzing DoD regulatory security requirements and their operational effects to assisting system owners with vulnerability management and developing comprehensive security documentation. I played a key role in ensuring compliance with critical regulations, including the Clinger Cohen Act, OMB A-130, and the E-Government Act, by implementing and analyzing best business practices and industry standards. Collaboration with the Chief Architect was essential to lead initiatives aimed at federating National Guard systems across the DoD and facilitating effective partnerships with external entities. I also provided crucial staff support for the development of agency IT exhibits and formulated recommendations for agency leadership on IT-related issues. This experience showcased my ability to provide high-level technical expertise, navigate complex regulatory landscapes, and collaborate effectively to achieve organizational objectives.

AFRICOM/EUCOM IT Project Manager

52nd Signal Battalion / 5th Signal Brigade / NETCOM

As an Information Technology Specialist action officer for the 52nd Signal Battalion / 5th Signal Brigade / NETCOM, I held primary staff responsibility for command-wide telecommunications equipment, systems, networks, and services planning in support of 7th Army and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). My role encompassed the development and implementation of comprehensive IT architectures, infrastructures, plans, policies, and standards, along with the design, integration, and implementation of Echelons Above Corps (EAC) systems/networks. I developed critical contingency plans and documents to support combined (multi-national), joint (multi-service), and Army operational missions and training exercises. A key aspect of my work involved planning and coordinating IT support for international events, including Partnership for Peace (PFP) and Military-to-Military engagements with the U.S. Army, NATO, and former Warsaw Pact nations. I represented the 5th Signal in various high-level technical meetings, briefings, and conferences, contributing technical expertise on telecommunications, mobile devices, and related technologies.

During my tenure as the Lead Information Technology (IT) specialist at Yakima Training Center, I served as a technical expert and leader, managing a wide range of IT operations. I was responsible for the planning, monitoring, and support of engineering functions for Yakima Training Center’s LAN, WAN, mainframes, server hardware, and software. This included the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of the agency’s call center/helpdesk, encompassing critical functions such as problem escalation, emergency response, service level agreements, customer feedback mechanisms, and performance measurements. I also played a pivotal role in pioneering, publishing, facilitating, and advising staff managers and supervisors on IT baseline management policies and processes across DoD and the local agency. My expertise extended to formulating, developing, and maintaining standard workstation and network configurations, including stringent security requirements.

During my service military service in the United States Army as a Network System Switching Operator Maintainer, I gained extensive experience in the operation and maintenance of complex communication systems. I was responsible for the installation, initialization, and operation of electronic switching assemblages, systems, and ancillary communications equipment, as well as the maintenance of computers for system/network operations. My technical skills were honed through interpreting error codes and performing maintenance on communication security devices, vehicles, and power generators. I progressed to a senior team member role, supervising the installation, operation, employment, and maintenance of electronic switches and associated equipment. This involved performing and guiding subordinate operators in switching operations, Combat Net Radio Interface procedures, and related technical tasks.
